The Sun Shines Bright On My Old Kentucky Home

So I'm off this afternoon toward Kentucky (overnight in Nashville) for the 2009 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. This is the 10th year in a row I've been, and the 11th competition I'll see. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. Weather forecast is excellent, I'm taking Maddie with me, and I am going to spend 4 days with people very near and dear to me.

Oh, and I'm also going to see Headley Brittania and her rider, Lucinda Fredericks, compete. This is a very special treat for us in America as a huge European contingent is testing the event in anticipation of the 2010 Alltech Word Equestrian Games which will be held September-October in Lexington.

It is my honest and sincere hope that the weekend goes off without a hitch to horse and rider.

See you Tuesday! Or, if you're in the area, come on up to Kentucky!

I wish you could have stayed for Lucinda's triumphant entry into the Sponsor's tent. She was gracious, mischievous, adorable, and humble all at once. There should be a new variety show, Lucinda Fredericks and the Solid Gold Rolex Dancers!
