This is gut-wrenching. It's like watching someone you love unravel right before your eyes.

I was standing right beside the fence where Laine Ashker flipped at Kentucky this year. I still cannot watch the footage without getting sick to my stomach. When I first saw it today, I nearly started crying. Definitely PSD.

We have to do something to make this sport safer.

I have to totally agree with you that something needs to change. The upper levels of Eventing is getting just plain scary anymore. I am so happy now just to plug away at Training. Above that is not something I would like to even think taking on until something is done.

Kudos for bring this up.

Wow, thanks so much for posting this. I do not event; however, I have followed the sport for years and Rolex is an annual trip for me. I have had friends say they will never go again after what happened this past year. I find the discussion interesting...tho sometimes a bit brutal such as on COTH Boards. It is a shame the Safety Summit did not accomplish more...everyone wants the sport to be as safe as possible, just a lot of opinions as to how to make it happen. Anyway, thanks for the clip! Now go ride that horse of yours :)

I didn't realize my own emotional response to this. Honestly, I was standing behind you when Frodo fell, and I cannot for the life of me watch it again.

I'm with Denny. Take the danger out by making the fences safer because there's always going to be another Laine Ashker making yet another stupid mistake.

And Darren's fall? God that was horrible. Just horrible.
