Shoulder Tension

In my practice of pilates and yoga, I've become really aware of the tension I carry in my shoulders. I am sure it's partially due to my nature, but also to bad habits formed from sitting at a desk all day.

In fact, every massage therapist who has ever worked on me has commented that my shoulders are like cement. And not in a good way.

We must stabilize our shoulders at the base of the blades, so they support the upper shoulders and neck. Instead of your shoulders back, think of sliding them down, and stabilizing your core when you do this.

It requires constant reminding, but the more conscientious you are about it, the more tension you will release, the better you will feel (and look).
